“Absolute stinker” – Many Liverpool fans slam “pathetic” star who’s been “awful since Atletico”

Well what an opening Premier League game of the season that was for Liverpool.

One man who didn’t enjoy the greatest of nights for the Reds, was Trent Alexander-Arnold. Much like the rest of the Liverpool back-line, the England international didn’t look at all himself, being shaky defensively and sloppy in possession too – one particularly worrying moment saw his blushes spared after he headed into his own net.

As per Sofascore, he lost possession a whopping 25 times over the course of the game, had an awful 68% pass accuracy, and delivered just three accurate crosses.

And after seeing his nightmare display, Liverpool fans took to Twitter to share their reactions.

A couple of Liverpool supporters claimed that the full-back played his “worst game ever” for the club.

Another couple of fans said Alexander-Arnold’s performance wasn’t actually anything new, and that his levels have dropped for some time now.

Great players are always bound to have an off-day, and that was certainly the case for Alexander-Arnold.

Who’s better?

Such has been his meteoric rise, it’s easy to forget that he’s still only 21, and that if he does have a poor performance like he did against Leeds, that fans aren’t too quick to jump on his back.

The right-back will be hoping that Saturday was just opening day blues.
