Ashley’s best window – Ranking Newcastle United’s incomings so far
Newcastle United had dreams of signing the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland earlier this year when it was reported that a Saudi Arabian takeover was going to make the Magpies one of the richest teams in world football.
However, it hasn’t quite worked out like that, and the Tyneside outfit have been condemned to another transfer window under the ownership of Mike Ashley.
It’s no secret that Ashley is one of the most despised men in Newcastle these days, but you have to give credit where it’s due and say that United have had a mightily impressive transfer window so far.
We’ve had a go at ranking Newcastle’s signings so far…
Ryan Fraser 5/5
Ryan Fraser seemed destined to go to a top-six club at one point.
In the 2018/19 season he came second on the Premier League’s assist table, only eclipsed by Eden Hazard of Chelsea, and he had the likes of Arsenal sniffing around him.
Unfortunately, he lost his way a bit last season, culminating in him walking out on Bournemouth before the end of the campaign.
The Cherries’ loss was the Magpies’ gain though as Newcastle signed a player valued at £15.75m by Transfermarkt on a free, and if he can rediscover his form, he will be a big player for Steve Bruce’s side.
