Man shot in shoulder at memorial for teens killed outside Brooklyn park
A man was shot in the shoulder Monday night while attending a memorial for two teens murdered outside a Brooklyn park a day earlier, police sources said.
The victim was attending a candlelight memorial at George Walker Jr. Park on Vermont St. at Jamaica Ave., where Kleimer Piron, 16, and Anthony Villa, 18, were shot dead Sunday evening.
A third teen, 17, was also wounded in the Sunday shooting.
Police sources said a gunman walked up to the victim at about 10:30 p.m. Monday as the man stood in a crowd of people gathered around candles and flowers dedicated to the slain teens.
The gunman shot once, striking the man in the shoulder, and fled, sources said. Medics took the victim to a nearby hospital. He’s expected to survive the shooting, police said.
Police did not release the victim’s name or age.
