Mets’ Marcus Stroman calls Angels’ Shohei Ohtani ‘a mythical legend in human form’
Marcus Stroman isamong Shohei Ohtani’s biggest fans.
The Mets’ pitcher took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the Angels’ two-way phenom and had nothing but good things to say about him. He called Ohtani “a mythical legend in human form” and spoke of just how other-worldly the fourth-year playerhas performed in 2021.
Ohtani is a mythical legend in human form. What hes doing is beyond incredible. Everyone in the big leagues is in awe of his talent. After games, I be running to my phone to check and see what Ohtani did on the night! Lol

Stroman’s description of Ohtani isspot-on. The Angels’ slugger is doing things baseball fans haven’t seen in a century as one of the only true two-way players in the game’s history. He may well be the most exciting player in baseball right now.

Ohtani is leading MLB with 14 homers on the year and each one of them seems to be amazing. On Sunday, he clubbed a game-winning ninth-inning blast off Matt Barnes to give the Angels an upset win over the Red Sox. The next day, he hit a homer on a pitch that was up around his eyes.
Few players, if any, besides Ohtani could go yard on that pitch.
Not only is Ohtani one of the game’s best hitters, but he has a 2.10 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings pitched on the year. He’s dominatedall facets of the game. Hitting, fielding, pitching, you name it, and he can do it.
So, it’s easy to see why Stroman is such a big fan. As long as the two-way starstays healthy, Ohtani will have a chance to compete for the AL MVP this season.
Meanwhile, Stroman will continue watching Ohtani at a comfortable distance, as his Mets don’t have to face Ohtani’s Angels during the 2021 campaign.
