Paper: The yearly cost involved in taxfiling in the US is in excess of 1% of GDP. If the government were to provide a free tax-filing option for its taxpayers (like other OECD countries do), it would save taxpayers $5.1 billion annually that they currently pay for tax software and tax preparers.
Not the first time I see a piece on how backward government routine in US is compared to, say, Europe.
Makes you wonder, how did such an inefficient country came to dominate global trade.
