Providence Mayor Signs Resolution To Start A ‘Reparations Process’ For Black And Indigenous People

Mayor Jorge Elorza of Providence signed an order on Wednesday to start a “reparations process” for black and indigenous people.

Providence Mayor: “A Committment That We’re Making To A Process”

The resolution put forward by the Providence Mayor provides for a “reparations process” in the community that would start with advisors meeting with “historical societies and researchers to come up with a plan for sharing the state’s role throughout history in the institution of slavery, genocide of Indigenous people, forced assimilation and seizure of land.”

State and local laws will also be reviewed, in an attempt to crack down up “discrimination” against black and indigenous communities.

“Today’s announcement is a commitment that we’re making to a process,” Elorza said in a press conference on Wednesday. “What we’re doing here together is truly something historic… but most importantly, it comes directly from the voice of our Black community.”

It follows a similar announcement from Asheville City Council in North Carolina earlier this week, who voted for a plan that includes various “reparations” to their black community. This would not come in the form of direct cash payments, as many reparation advocates have demanded in the past. Instead, money will be directed towards areas “that traditionally see racial disparities,” directed from a new Community Reparations Commission that will be set up.

“Hundreds of years of black blood spilled that basically fills the cup we drink from today,” Councilman Keith Young said, who created the resolution. “It is simply not enough to remove statues. Black people in this country are dealing with issues that are systemic in nature.”

Simply Racism From The Left!

These new reparation plans coming from the left are yet another example of the virulent anti-white racism that we are seeing across the country today. They want to take money away from hard-working Americans, just because of the color of their skin, and give it to other people who never experienced the suffering that is being paid for in the first place.

No direct cash payments are involved in both of these cases, but I guarantee you, now that the process has started, it is merely a matter of time.
