The doom and gloom at West Ham continues to grow.

After fans’ frustrations at seeing Grady Diangana leave the club to join fellow Premier League side West Brom, the Hammers got off to the worst possible start as they lost to Newcastle in the first game of the season on Saturday.

Aston Villa have suffered the most defeats in Premier League history

David Moyes’ side slipped to a 2-0 defeat to the Magpies at the London Stadium, and one man who left West Ham fans tearing their hair out, was Aaron Cresswell.

The left-back endured a nightmare game, with his 6.4 match rating as per Sofascore only better than Jarrod Bowen amongst all outfield players for either side.

He lost possession a staggering 18 times over the course of the game, delivered just two accurate crosses, and won a measly three duels.

And after seeing his performance, Hammers fans took to Twitter to voice their frustrations with the left-back.

A few West Ham fans slammed Cresswell’s lack of attacking urgency, with one supporter taking issue with his poor crossing skills too.

Cresswell, who’ll turn 31 later this year, has really struggled to capture his best form from a couple of years ago, when he racked up an impressive seven assists in the Premier League in the 2017/2018 campaign.

Should West Ham sell Aaron Cresswell?

Hammers fans may even have been looking at Newcastle left-back Jamal Lewis with a bit of envy, with the Magpies snapping up the rising star from relegated Norwich recently.

How they could have done with someone like that on Saturday.
